Weaving 'Clanitis'

With each tapestry a drawn 'cartoon' is placed behind the warp threads. This is used as a guide for the placement of colours and image.

The image grows millimetre by millimetre. Small bundles (butterflies) of coloured yarns (the weft), are threaded horizontally by hand alternately, in front and behind, the taut vertical warp threads.

Gradually the tapestry is built, by the precise positioning of the densely compacted coloured weft, which completely covers the warp.
